Our meeting with Enayatollah Akbari

Saturday, February 12, the boys and girls hosted by Progetto Aquilone had a meeting in Turin with Enayatollah Akbari, the young afghan whose story is narrated in a now very famous italian book, entitled Nel mare ci sono i coccodrilli (There are crocodiles in the sea). We asked the young boys and girls to write their impressions. They were all really happy to know him, also because, as Bariolay said, “He is also an afghan!”.

Razma said that Enayat encouraged them to study hard, in order to become good citizens who can contribute to their country. Madina, on the other hand, stressed the fact that Enayat is a very courageos guy and that they were really happy to meet him. Ramin was really moved by the story of how Enayat's mother decided to leave him alone in Quetta, Pakistan, when he was a ten years old boy. He had to start to think about himself and Leyla said that she was really moved to tears in hearing this. Chiara and Giorgia could not believe their years listening to the long travel that Enayat had to undergo in order to come to Italy. He risked his life more than once.

Haseeb stressed something that all afghan boys and girls know too well. To live in Afghanistan, for a child, means to have a heart like a stone. Shogufa, on her part, said that Enayat encouraged them to go against any difficulty with all their might, never surrending to hardships.
There were many questions for Enayat. Storei asked him if he would like to go back to Afghanistan. Enayat answered that he his actually happy to be in Italy, because he can study and learn, but that his country is Afghanistan and that no other country can take its place. Farzana, on her part, asked to Enayat how he felt when his mother abandoned him in Quetta. “In the beginning I was really angry with her, I couldn't understand the reason why I was left alone in a foreign city. But then I understood that all that my mother wanted was a hope for my life.”

Il nostro incontro con Enayatollah Akbari

Abbiamo raccolto alcune riflessioni dei ragazzi afgani ospiti del progetto Aquilone e degli amici italiani in merito all'incontro con Enayatollah Akbari. Sono stati tutti molto contenti di averlo conosciuto, anche per il fatto, come ha detto Bariolay, che “anche lui è un afgano!”.

Razma ha ricordato che Enayat li ha incoraggiati a studiare tanto, per diventare dei bravi afgani che possono aiutare il loro paese. Madina invece ha sottolineato il fatto che Enayat è un ragazzo molto coraggioso e che loro sono stati davvero felici di conoscerlo.
Ramin è rimasto molto colpito dal racconto di Enayat di quando sua madre lo ha lasciato a Quetta, in Pakistan, all'età di dieci anni e di come lui abbia dovuto cominciare a vivere badando a se stesso. Leyla aggiunge che questo racconto l'ha veramente commossa, fino alle lacrime. Chiara e Giorgia, invece, sono rimaste a bocca aperta nel seguire le varie tappe del suo viaggio, in cui Enayat ha rischiato la vita in più di una occasione.

Haseeb ha sottolineato ciò che tutti i ragazzi afgani sanno molto bene, ovvero che per dei bambini vivere in Afganistan significa avere il cuore duro come una pietra. Shogufa invece ha fatto presente che l'incoraggiamento di Enayat è stato molto diretto: «Ogni volta che dobbiamo affrontare un problema dobbiamo lottare contro di esso, senza mai arrenderci.»
Molte le domande che i ragazzi hanno rivolto al giovane protagonista della giornata. Storei ha voluto sapere se Enayat intende fare ritorno nel suo paese. “Sono contento di essere in Italia” ha risposto Enayat, “perché posso studiare e sono stato aiutato moltissimo, però l'Afghanistan è il mio paese e nessun altro paese lo può sostituire dentro di me”. Farzana invece ha voluto sapere se nel momento in cui sua mamma lo ha abbandonato a Quetta lui ha provato rabbia nei suoi confronti. Enayat ha risposto che all'inizio era molto arrabbiato e che non riusciva a capire cosa fosse successo, ma che in seguito ha capito che sua madre aveva agito così perché voleva il suo bene.
